I'm Eric Schott, and Schott Woodworking is the culmination of many years of learning, watching, building and listening. I'm an engineer that always wanted to be an architect and loved drafting class. Layout and design with some art was my thing. As an avid fan of The New Yankee Workshop I learned each week how to design and build furniture projects, how to do this while creating almost no scrap, and how to build something that would last. I count Norm Abrams as a big influence in my woodworking career, however, my grandfather also spent many hours with me showing me how to use tools and how to craft wood. He came to America in the 1920's as a master craftsman.
Several years later, HGTV came along and the flood gates were open for all sorts of projects and ideas. I had always built items for friends and family and that continues today. The passion for building something for someone and then delivering it to them and knowing that the furniture piece will probably outlive me and still be around long after I'm gone is very inspirational.
